Exhibition Title: I am sitting in a room different from the one you are in now: A visit to Alvin Lucier’s living room of his home in Middletown, Connecticut on October 29th and 31st, 1980

As an homage to Alvin Lucier’s historical sound work, I am sitting in a room, the exhibition is based on a sonic investigation of architectural spaces. While Mr. Lucier tries to identify architectural spaces by creating and measuring wavelengths of sound, the artist seeks a reversed method to illustrate the spaces by listening to the original sounds that Alvin Lucier recorded. There are multiple recording versions of the same text by Mr. Lucier, but the version in this exhibition is the one recorded in his living room at 7 Miles Avenue, Middletown, Connecticut on October 29th and 31st, 1980. This participatory installation encourages the public’s active intervention with Mr. Lucier’s private space from 1980.

The text face of artwork is set in PIN Medium Stencil, and PIN Medium Dot. Purchase PIN at Colophon Foundry.
